The aim of this topic is to learn how Singapore have and how they produces clean water from those used water.
The primary objective of the joint initiative was to determine the suitability of using NEWater as a source of raw water to supplement Singapore's water supply.
NEWater is used water that had undergo stringent purification and treatment process using an advanced dual-membrane, so known as 'microfiltration and reverse osmosis'.
This type of water could be mixed and blended wi=th reservoir water and then to undergo some conventional water treatment as to producing drinking water.
The use of NEWater for wafer fabrication processes, non-potable applications in manufacturing processes as well as air-con cooling towers in commercial buildings would free large amount of potable water for other potable purposes.
PUB had accepted the proposal to use NEWater for indirect potable use in Sep 2002, meaning to the mixing and blending NEWater with raw water in the resevoirs before letting it to undergo those conventional treatment at the waterworks for supply to the public for portable use.
